Sugar Rush Peach Hot Pepper (Capsicum baccatum) is a unique variety renowned for its sweet, tropical flavor paired with a substantial heat level, estimated around 20,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). The 3-inch-long peppers ripen to a distinctive peachy-orange hue, adding visual appeal to their culinary versatility. Ideal for salsas, hot sauces, and pickling, these peppers offer a fruity and intense heat. The plants are vigorous, often reaching heights of 4 feet, and produce prolifically throughout the growing season.

Sow seeds indoors 8–10 weeks before the last frost date, planting them ¼ inch deep in seed-starting mix. Maintain soil temperatures between 70–85°F for optimal germination. Once seedlings develop true leaves and outdoor temperatures consistently exceed 70°F, transplant them outdoors, spacing plants 18–24 inches apart in well-drained soil with a pH of 6.0–7.0. Sugar Rush Peach plants require full sun, receiving at least 6–8 hours daily. Due to their potential height of up to 5 feet, provide sturdy support such as stakes or cages. Water consistently, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings, and fertilize with a balanced fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during the growing season. Avoid high nitrogen fertilizers, which can promote disease and cause excessive foliar growth and blossom drop, reducing yield.
