Oats Spring Cover Crop

Oats feed and protect the soil, suppress weeds, and are easy to terminate. The perfect cover crop for early spring, or for a winter-killed cover crop that will protect the soil but allow you to plant early.

Broadcast seed as soon as soil can be worked, or any time of year. Seeding rate should be about 100#/Acre or 1#/300sqft. Rake or till into soil at a garden scale, or on the farm scale use a drag harrow after broadcasting or, ideally a drill. Oats prefer to be around 1" deep, and good soil contact is essential for germination.

We ship anywhere in the lower 48 states of the US via USPS.

All sales are final and we do not accept returns or exchanges except in the case of delivering the wrong item or recalling specific seed lots due to contamination. For wholesale customers who purchase our pre-filled bundles, we will provide a credit for the following season’s order for any packets returned by October 1st.
