Cereal Rye Winter Cover Crop

Certified Organic.

An extremely cold hardy cover crop for protecting soil over the winter. Rye is extremely weed competitve, but can also compete with your cash crops. Superb for no-till applications, in which case the rye should be crimped at flowering (anthesis) or no later than soft dough stage.

For good biomass production, broadcast seed no later than 4 weeks after first frost at a rate of about 1#/250 sqft. Gently rake into soil. As cover crop can be seeded up until mid-November. Make sure to terminate at least 2 weeks before planting, or 3 weeks before planting if rye is already headed out.

All sales are final and we do not accept returns or exchanges except in the case of delivering the wrong item or recalling specific seed lots due to contamination. For wholesale customers who purchase our pre-filled bundles, we will provide a credit for the following season’s order for any packets returned by October 1st.
